Update Aadhaar card details online option helps a lot for those who have errors in Aadhaar demographic details, if there is any spelling mistake or error in your Aadhaar card then you can easily correct it using Update Aadhaar card data online option. Official UIDAI Portal.
But online Aadhaar updating service is not free as before. Now you have to pay for every aadhaar update request you make online.
To be able to update your aadhaar card details online, firstly, your mobile number should be registered with your aadhaar, you should have an internet connection, computer or laptop or smartphone, payment mode like credit/debit card or net banking and your computer or laptop or Scanned copy of self-attested supporting document saved in smartphone in .jpg, .pdf, .tiff, .jpeg, or .png format.

Through online Aadhaar update, you can update only your name, date of birth, gender, address and language and all other details like biometrics, mobile number and email address can be updated only through Aadhaar Seva Kendra or post. office or bank. So this is the only limitation to update your aadhaar online.
Depending on the fields you wish to update, you will need to provide supporting documents and below is the complete list of supporting documents.
Documents for updating Aadhaar card online
Proof of address (PoA) document contains name and address
POI (Proof of Identity) document containing name and photograph
DOB (Date of Birth) document contains name and DOB
POR (Proof of Relationship) document containing name of applicant and name of HoF (Head of Family)
Online Aadhaar Card Update Process
As we mentioned earlier through online mode of update you can only update your Aadhaar demographic details like name, date of birth, gender, address and language.
And to proceed with online demographic details update in your Aadhaar, it is mandatory to have a valid mobile number linked with your Aadhaar. Without a registered mobile number, you cannot update your Aadhaar address online. So make sure you keep the mobile number registered with you accessible during this process and also make sure you scan the above-supporting documents on your device from where you are submitting the request for demographic data update in Aadhaar.
Visit official UIDAI website to update Aadhaar card online https://uidai.gov.in/
Click under Update Aadhaar section Update demographics data and check status
The myAadhaar page will open, which will list various options
From the myAadhaar page, click on the login button displayed in the top right corner
In the form you have to enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number, solve the captcha code and click on Send OTP button
You will receive a one-time-password on your registered mobile number, you need to enter it in the enter OTP field and click on login button
Now you will login with your Aadhaar number, once logged in, on the same myAadhaar page you will be able to see Update Aadhaar online Under service category
Just click on Update Aadhaar Online and it will take you to a new page
Next page will explain update process, here you need to click on proceed button to update aadhaar
Select the population field to update from the list. Through this online portal, you can update your name (minor corrections only), date of birth (DOB), gender, language and address.
One thing you need to note is that fields like name, date of birth and gender can be updated a limited number of times as a human being does not update this data repeatedly. So below is the restriction list of name, gender, and date of birth as set by UIDAI.

You can update your name if the change is minor and includes:
- Correct spelling is phonetically the same
- Change order
- Short-form to full form
- Name change after marriage
You can also select multiple options to update at once
After selecting the field to update, click on proceed to update Aadhaar
On the next page, you will see your current details, and below you have to enter the new details
Once the details are filled the details you entered will be translated into the local language and it will be filled in the below field, you need to upload the document as per the list of supported documents
Select the document you want to upload from the list and upload the document (note that the file size of the document must be below 2 MB and in JPEG, PNG or PDF format)
You can either update the documents manually or sync the documents from your Digilcar account by selecting the appropriate documents from the list if you have them.
After uploading the document click next button
If you have selected multiple fields to update, you need to enter the details one by one by clicking the next button. To update multiple fields you need to upload one document for each field ie:

Once the documents are filled and uploaded, on the next screen you will get the preview page
Here you will have the opportunity to review the details you have entered
The preview of your entered demographic details will be displayed with the uploaded document, do a cross-check on the entered details and if everything is correct then solve the captcha code, click on Send OTP and enter the received OTP in the Enter OTP field and accept . Tick the terms “I hereby confirm that I have read the instructions carefully and the information provided by me to UIDAI is true and correct” and click on the Make Payment button
To submit a demographic update request, you need to make the payment using credit card/debit card or net banking. Payment is mandatory for submitting update requests.
Once payment is made, the next screen will display your acknowledgment receipt for SSUP Population Update
You can download the acknowledgment receipt by clicking the download button for future reference. And the status of your update request can be tracked online using the URN number (Update Request Number) found on the receipt.
It may take 1 to 7 weeks for your application to be processed, so you should monitor the status of your request and you will be notified via SMS. Your request will be verified by UIDAI’s internal quality check operator. Demographic information provided at this stage will be checked against supporting documents. If there is a mismatch, your request may be rejected. Once the quality verification process is completed, you will receive an SMS notification containing the Enrollment ID as a result. After some more verification by the backend software, your request processing will be complete. You will get an SMS notification about the result.
And once your update request is approved and processed, your Aadhaar physical copy with new details will be sent to your registered address through speed post which may take up to 1 month after your update request is approved.
This way you can change your Aadhaar address, name, date of birth, gender and language online if you have shifted to a new address or your details are wrongly mentioned in your Aadhaar card.
If for any reason you close the page during the update process, it will be saved as draft which you will see under request section after login with your aadhaar.
You can simply click on the resume option to resume with your update process. You can even delete the last incomplete request by clicking Delete and then start over.

How many days will it take to get e-adhar card after updating?
Once you get an SMS on your phone that your update request has been accepted and approved, you can directly download your e-Aadhaar card online with new details.
Will I get a PVC card or a regular Aadhaar letter once my details are updated?
Once your request for update is approved and processed, you will receive your Aadhaar letter with new details by speed post to your registered address. If you need an Aadhaar PVC card with new details, you will have to order it manually once your details are updated in Aadhaar.
Can I update my demographic details online without registered mobile number?
If you do not have a mobile number linked with your Aadhaar, you cannot update any of your demographic details in your Aadhaar through online mode as you will receive the OTP for Aadhaar authentication on your registered mobile. So if your mobile number is not linked with your Aadhaar or the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar is no longer available with you, you need to first visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Bank to update your mobile number in your Aadhaar. .
How often can I update my demographic details in Aadhaar online?
There is no limit set by UIDAI for updating your demographic details in Aadhaar online. However, demographic details such as name, date of birth and gender can be updated a limited number of times i.e. name twice in lifetime, gender once in lifetime and date of birth once in lifetime subject to current status conditions. If my update request is rejected, will I get a refund of the fee paid?
Yes, if your update request is rejected for any reason, the fee you paid will be refunded. The refund will be credited to the source account from where it was issued.
When I click on Update Aadhaar Online I am getting an error “You already have an active draft from a previous interaction with the portal. Can you edit the draft request or cancel it and start fresh”?
Because you have already saved incomplete Aadhaar update request as draft. To proceed with the update you can resume the last request which is saved as draft under the request section or else you can delete the draft and go with the new update.
Can I just update the pin code on my aadhaar card?
Pin code field comes under address category, so to update pin code you need to select address update field and fill complete address with correct pin code. Your supporting document must contain the same PIN code to update the new PIN code.
