EPFO’s UAN(Unique Account Number) – Aadhaar Card Seeding(Linking) – All details

More than 6 crore subscribers have been provided with UAN i.e. Unique Account Numbers by EPFO. Seeding Aadhaar with UAN will help the department to verify the details of the subscriber. After the successful seeding of KYC(Aadhaar) with UAN, the feature of the UAN Photo Card will be provided. It is to be noted that the process of linking UAN and aadhaar cards is on its way. UAN Aadhaar card Seeding – List of KYC Documents

  • Aadhaar Card
  • NPR(National Population Register)
  • PAN Card
  • Bank Account

Note – Other Accepted KYC is Ration Card, Passport, and Voter ID Card.

Subscribers will be given Unique Account Numbers, once the KYC details will be collected and presented to EPFO by the employers. Aadhaar card or any other KYC of each and every subscriber under a particular employer must be presented to the organization. This will make the verification process easy and reduce the overhead.

Aadhaar Card is necessary for rolling Out Unique Account Number(UAN)

Initially, in 2013, a campaign was started where the aadhaar card was made necessary for providing Unique Account Numbers. At that time, the campaign didn’t see much success. The same process has been started in 2015 and will be rolled out on large scale. It is expected that the enrolments this time will be on the higher side. It would be interesting to see how many UANs will be linked with aadhaar cards this time. Here is how this process will work –

  1. Initially, EPFO will issue UAN to contributing Members
  2. Employers have been given the responsibility for seeding the KYC(mainly aadhaar card) of each employee

So, it is important for employers to get in touch with local UIDAI offices. The retirement fund manager has also established a special team of completing the seeding process. As per the directions of EPFO, the process should be completed by the 15th of October.

Aadhaar Coverage for Existing Subscribers

As mentioned above the new UANs will require aadhaar card, also the existing subscriber’s aadhaar card details must be linked with UAN. This also is a very important step that must be completed by the employers. In this way, all the UAN’s can be successfully integrated with aadhaar numbers.
